About iNtrmzzo

iNtrmzzo (pronounced as Intermezzo) has been a well established name within the international a cappella scene for years. The vocal group, founded in 1991, has a large number of theater shows under its belt, performed in many countries around the world.

iNtrmzzo is being hailed as one of Europe’s best and unique a cappella groups. They performed in countries like Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, England and United Arab Emirates to name just a few. Their unique style can best be described as Absurd A Cappella Comedy. The repertoire ranges from pop to world music and jazz, making them highly adaptable to any circumstance, venue and occasion.

Merijn Dijkstra

Bass/Baritone

Merijn is one of the founding members of iNtrmzzo. He stopped counting after 25 years, so now If you aks him how long he has been a member you know the answer.

Merijn is a professionally schooled singer (Conservatory of Utrecht, Jazz and Pop) and joined iNtrmzzo right after finishing his education.

He writes a large portion of the vocal arrangements and tries to lead the rehearsals, although the other members might have something to say about that...

Robbert van Unnik

Baritone/Tenor

As a former member of Montezuma's Revenge Robbert knows what it takes to be an A Cappella singer. With his experience he is the perfect addition to iNtrmzzo.

He is also professionally trained as a singer and can fill just about any vocal part. You could call him a swinger... ;-)

Besides having a pretty good voice and ears he takes care of the numbers. He really knows how to crunch them digits. And the other members love him for it!

Tjidde Smilda

Tenor

Tjidde never did any real audition for iNtrmzzo. He just joined after a phonecall. And the rest is history.

Tjidde has many trades. Besides singing most of the higher parts he is also the main supplier of the tech equipment, since he is the owner of Tjidde! custom inear monitors.

Blessed with a healthy dose of testosteron he can be quite dangerous on stage. But mind you, he has a heart of gold.

Harm van Bennekom

Bass/Baritone/Beatbox

The newest and also the shortest member of iNtrmzzo. But it's as if he's always been a member.

Don't be fooled by his 'shortcomings'. He can compensate his length quite easily by performing a sh#@storm of vocal percussion if necessary!

And if you're looking for the fittest one in the group, just search for the one where the muscles almost pop out of his shirt

It's easier than you think. Don't make it sound like you can't open your mouth. It's pronounced as Intermezzo. But we're lazy. We left out some consonants.
